These commands perform the correponding action when typed into AOL Instant Messenger messages, profiles, and away messages.
Opening a webpage in the AIM Today window

Opens a webpage in the AIM today window
Changing buddy icons
aim:buddyicon
Opens the change buddy icon window
aim:buddyicon?src=X
Changes the person's buddy icon to a designated icon by replacing X with the URL of the image
aim:buddyicon?screename=Y
Opens the change buddy icon window with focus on a particular user, designated by replacing Y with the person's screen name
aim:buddyicon?src=X&screename=Y
Changes a person's buddy icon, source of the image put in place of X, person designated by replacing Y with the person's screen name
Opening instant message windows
aim:goim?
Opens a blank IM window
aim:goim?screenname=X
Opens an IM window to a specific user designated by replacing X with the screen name of the person
aim:goim?screenname=X&message=Y
Same as above, but inputs a specific message designated by replacing Y with the message
Adding buddies to list
aim:addbuddy?
Opens a blank add buddy window
aim:addbuddy?screenname=X
Opens an add buddy window for adding a specific user designated by replacing X with the screen name of the person
aim:addbuddy?screenname=X&groupname=Y
Same as above, but adds the buddy to a specific group designated by replacing Y with the group name desired
Activating away messages
aim:goaway?
Opens a blank away message window
aim:goaway?message=X
Puts the user away with a specific away message designated by replacing X with the desired away message
Note: Spaces in the commands must be replaced with plus signs(+).
To hide the identity of the commands, type one into the text input labeled Hyperlink URL and some text to dupe your friend into clicking it in the text input labeled Hyperlink text.

Rolling dice in a chat room:
//roll
Rolls two six-sided dice
//roll-dice X-sides Y
Rolls a certain number of dice (designated by replacing X with a number) each having a set number of sides (designated by replacing Y with a number)

To center the data in an info or away message, copy and paste the code <center> to the beginning of the text and </center> to the end of the text.

To remove the advertisements from your buddy list window, open the AIM folder (C:/Program_Files/AIM95) and delete the file named advert.ocm and rename the file admin.ocm to advert.ocm.

To prevent the AIM Today window from opening on start-up, open AIM preferences and click the sign-on/off tab. Uncheck the box labeled "Show AIM Today window at sign on"

To warn someone up to 100%, warn them to 35%, then sign off, warn another 70%, then sign off, and warn to 100%. This works best when the conversation with the person is relatively long.

To make someone's floppy drive spin, direct connect to the person, and copy the text: <img src="a:\"> and paste it into the IM window as many as you like. Your floppy drive will spin first, so don't go too overboard.

To have hidden hyperlinks in an info, away message, or IM window, type <a href="WEBSITE">xxxx</a>. Replace WEBSITE with the desired URL. Replace the xxxx with tabs.

To talk to someone while signed off, direct connect with the person, then sign off. Do not close AIM. While connected, you can still communicate even though you are not signed on.

To cause a person's AIM to crash, create a hyperlink that has the following text for the URL: aim:addbuddy?screenname=Gladstones,Gladstones,Gladstones,Gladstones,Gladstones,Gladstones,Gladstones,Gladstones,Gladstones,Gladstones,Gladstones,Gladstones,Gladstones,Gladstones,Gladstones
This is a very nasty trick to play on someone who is so privileged to have made it to your buddy list. Please be reasonable when copying this text.

To record and send a ten-second recording to a person, direct connect, then press F12 on your keyboard and let the embarrassing comments begin.
