Gladstones unplugged
Penn State Beaver

Date: April 30, 2003
Location: Penn State Beaver campus
Bands that played: Standing Alone, Better Off Dead, Mushcup, Klank, Brassholes, Another Lost Cause, Heinz 57s, Fear of Gray
Notable appearances: Ina, Sarah Liberati
Notes: After the first two bands played, it started to look like it was going to rain. The Gladstones moved all the equipment into the student union for an indoor show. After playing a few songs, we were told that after our set, the show would move back outside. After the next song, all the "high-schooler" kids were forced to listen and watch through the windows. Apparently, the Penn State Beaver authorities are still bitter about The Citizens' riot that occured years ago. The show was still a success. Ian Stauffer (high school kid, mind you) stayed and lived up to our expectations. He removed his underwear without taking off his pants. The video is available on the Film page. Tonight was Ina's last night in America. Excellent way to finish it off. Tonight was also Katy Mogg's birthday.

Date: April 25, 2003
Location: Hopewell Firehall #2
Bands that played: Run for India, Understanding Emerson, Sorry For Something, Runner Up, At Random
Notable appearances: Leeana, Gladstones Haters
Notes: The Gladstones were on the flyer for this show, but weren't able to play. Derek, Alan, and Tony played accoustic Gladstones jams between sets. Derek's guitar broke and he used Tony's for the rest of the show, while Tony played percussive beats on the guitar body. A couple of cats brought a taser and tormented teenage girls outside the firehall. Fun stuff.

Date: March 7, 2003
Location: Center Firehall #3 (Stobo)
Bands that played: Run for India, The Rydells, Drain This Blood, Runner Up, Chad Fell Down, Better Off Dead
Surprise performance from: Hexem
Notable appearances: Amber, Megan, Ashley, Tara
Notes: This is the first Arem Productions show. The Gladstones wonderfully got all of our mics and cables stolen. YAY! Tom was missing before our set and 75 people got in for free. Told Steve not to pay us but he did. Awesome kid.

Date: February 26, 2003
Location: American Music Cafè
Bands that played: Bayside, Asking Autumn, Running From Dharma, 3 And Out
Notable appearances: Nobody came
Notes: We forgot a tuner and had to buy one of AMC's overpriced ones. A mic broke and we had to pay to have it fixed. We had to pay for our drinks. Whitney, Caroline, Heather, and Jess were the only people to watch our set, and Whitney and Caroline got a ride there with Bill. A total of only 24 people came to the show, 16 to see us. AMC sucks and those other bands shouldn't be wasting their time in Pittsburgh. Tony and Alan ran out of gas after making a serious wrong turn on the way home.

Date: February 15, 2003
Location: Monaca Sons of Italy
Bands that played: Atrocity, 5KS, Buddy Holiday(Accoustic)
Surprise performances from: Starting The Dockyard, Better Off Dead, October(First instrumental show)
Notable appearances: Sarah, Erica, Courtney, Moggs crew
Notes: This show was originally to be held as a free show at the American Italian Club in Aliquippa. Keith's dad or something was hooking everything up. A paying party then wanted the place, so the show was off. After many calls, the SOI Club was found as the only place not booked. Everything was going as planned. Some of it seemed too good to be true, actually. An hour and a half before the show started, Jake, Tony, and Alan were setting things up and some fella comes in and starts screaming. He said an 18-year-old can't rent out a hall. After some serious dispute, it was agreed that Dan Rosa of 5KS would sign for the club. After it was all said and done, the place was put back to how it was when we got there, and Frank Albanese apologized for underestimating us and invited us back for anytime we want. The only problem with this show was everyone thought it was cancelled. This is also the first show Alan has ever put together.

Date: February 9, 2003
Location: Forest Grove Firehall
Bands that played: Too Bad It's Tuesday, Runner-up, Sorry For Something, Free Orange
Notes: Before our set, some kid asked if we were covering "Still" then requested that we not play it. During the set, The Gladstones covered the song anyways. Turns out, the kid was the lead singer of the next band, Too Bad It's Tuesday. One beautiful cover after another, their show led up to them talking shit on us then attempting to show us up on someone else's song ("Still") and failing miserably. There are shit-talkers and there are people who tell things the way they are. The line has been drawn, and the question is, "What side are you on?" There are also people who insist on being your enemies.

Bands that played: Zero Anthem, 5KS, Code Green, Boy Chaos, Second Star, Aftercurfew, Space Pimps, Second Before The Crash, Loko Phylum, Cloud 9, At Random, Runner Up
Notable appearances: Aaron Bromley
Notes: 5KS let us play a song during their set, since we got screwed into playing at noon. Who rocks out on a Monday at noon??? Broms played bass with us because Derek "The Asian Chef" Anderson was busy with more important things. This was the first time Broms played a show with The Gladstones.

Date: November 16, 2002
Location: Chatham College Rea Coffee House
Bands that played: Code Green, Loonsdale, In Like Flint
Notable appearances: PP
Notes: We played next to last. Nobody was really there the whole night, but by the time we played, it was just Tom's sister and her boyfriend and PP. By the time In Like Flint played, it was empty. Decent place, size of crowd didn't matter.

Location: Rt. 51 Go-Cart Track
Bands that played: Mill Street Criminals, Death To Laertes, Aftertaste, No Exit Theory

Notes: Seemed like not too many people were into us. Two or three songs into the set, we started making fun of everyone there who was punk. Following the show, Alan chased down Bobby from Runner-up and his parents with a baseball bat. Bobby and the rest of Runner-up are now close friends of The Gladstones.

Bands that played: Buddy Holiday (Accoustic), Ordinance 97, One Hot Lunch, Atrocity
Notes: Jamie met her boyfriend, Tom, from Ordinance 97. Gladstones covered "At Your Funeral". Anna Sanchez's first Gladstones show. We did not, however, sing the Anna Sanchez song because Liane's mom was present or something. One Hot Lunch didn't get to play because the cops busted up the party.

Date: June 8, 2002
Location: Vanport Firehall
Bands that played: Better Off Dead, Atrocity, Ordinance 97, Buddy Holiday, Standing Alone
Surprise performance from: The Sticky Bandits
Notes: This was Jessica Bogolea's birthday party. Alana and Liane were the only people who watched us. Breznai sang one of the one songs The Sticky Bandits played. I believe it was called Dance Dance Revolution. They played it about a half-dozen times. Interesting post-script to this show; Breznai later got involved in DDR.
